Saw this at AMC Loews 5 at Dupont. Has got to be one of the smallest theaters ever. I think it only seated like 50 people and felt like I was watching a movie on a friend's riced out home theater. I've barely heard anything about this movie and the only thing I remember about the promotions for this movie is that they use Muse - Map of the Problematique (AWESOME band, go see them live) in the commercials.
There's supposedly some epidemic that are making women infertile and so the planet becomes a pretty gloomy place. Illegal immigration and two main terrorist groups have begun plaguing Britain which is hinted to be the only nation not to crumble. The film begins with the death of the youngest person in the world who was 18. You follow Theo Faron (Clive Owen) who's pretty much lost all hope in the world and has a pessimistic view on his life. He finds himself being kidnapped by one of the terrorist groups led by his ex-wife Julian (Julianne Moore) and ends up helping a young woman named Kee (Claire-Hope Ashitey). Why does Kee need help? She's pregnant.
They've compared this film to Blade Runner and I can sort of see the resemblance but I thought Blade Runner was a little slow for my taste. Children of Men is VERY interesting and the action is by far engrossing. Great movie. Whoever is wasting there money seeing Stomp the Yard and hasn't seen this movie is probably the most retarded person I know. Children of Men is grittingly real and breathtaking. Enjoy!
Children of Men gets a 9 out of 10.
