Jackie Chan fan? I am! Well I'm pleased to review what I believe is the best Jackie Chan film I've ever seen. Long time ago, I used to think that Hung faan aau (Rumble in the Bronx) was the best film, but if you haven't checked this movie out, you must. Rumble in the Bronx still is the best pseudo American type film though. Action-wise this film isn't as good as Jui kuen II (Drunken Master II) but the shear emotion in the film trumps any I've seen. You probably know of the regular slap happy physical comedy type of film that Chan usually does, if you hate him because of the sillyness then check this film out before you start hating.
Chan plays a cop that is sent to protect a key witness. The anger and unrestrictive action sequences are just incredible. The choreography is some of the best I've seen that doesn't seem 'fake' and Chan's character isn't considered a super-human like he is in most of his other films. If you enjoy martial arts movies, definitely check this out. You won't be disappointed. This started a series that spawned many more sequels but the original is still by far the best.
Police Story gets a 9 out of 10.
