I really wanted to see this movie since it does star Will Ferrell, the comedic god. After getting the movie from the black friday insanity, I was a bit disappointed. The movie was subpar from what I expected, but it's not something that I regret buying.

Will Ferrell plays Phil Weston a suppressed kid that wants to stick it to his old man, played by Robert Duvall. He decides to coach a struggling soccer team against his father, who coaches the winning team in their league. Phil recruits none other than Mike Ditka to be his assistant coach. The movie had its moments but just doesn't harness the true potential of Ferrell.

All in all, Kicking and Screaming was an enjoyable family movie. It's no Old School or Elf. But hey, you can't win them all.

Kicking and Screaming gets a 5 out of 10.
