Let's get this straight before you continue on reading this review, I enjoy the movies, and I have basically watched the movies without reading the books. I just started reading the books this summer and find them enjoyable as well. I don't consider myself that much of a Harry Potter freak and I probably would recommend watching the movies before reading the books (but I don't really have much to judge from since I haven't really read one of the books before watching the movie). I have though gotten through half of this book before watching the movie and I'll comment on that by the end of the review.
The fourth installment of young Harry Potter is an exciting year for the adolescent teen. Instead of talking about the general plot which i haven't really done much lately in my reviews, I'll just go over parts that I do and don't enjoy. Well first off, the first half of the movie I did not enjoy as much as the later half. This is mainly because while watching the film, in my head I would be like, "They left this part out!" or "Man, I wanted to see more on this!" This basically spoiled the movie for me and I didn't get to just sit back and enjoy the film. The second half was far better though I do admit that there is A LOT more things that happen in the second half. I can definitly see why people would hate the film or why people would love it. I for one say it is very good for condensing a huge ass book to just one movie (though i think it would of been smarter to break it up in two movies).
All that aside, all I can say is TEEN ANGST. (haha, I love those 2 words). The characters are beginning to become horny little teenagers and it's really funny watching them manage that. The film did seem very rushed but what can you expect? All in all, a good continuation of a good series, of course no oscar winning performances or anything like that, but enjoyable enough to see twice and stay awake through the whole film (both times at around midnight, I might add).
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire gets a 8 out of 10.
