I've expected a little bit more fantasy from this movie because of the misrepresentation of the trailers and commercials. And in the fad of children fantasy stories I wouldn't have been surprised, but this movie is more about the life of Jesse Aarons (Josh Hutcherson) and his imaginative friend Leslie Burke (AnnaSophia Robb).
Jesse is from a poor family where he doesn't exactly get to be a kid because he has chores and responsibility. Leslie is a new girl in town and is an outsider cause she's a little bit different. Leslie becomes this crazy schizo girl that sees and hears things and somehow gets Jesse to believe that the things she makes up are real. They have a secret hideout that at 5th grade I wouldn't be surprised that they were making out there but instead they're in make believe.
A fairly mediocre childrens' movie with a interesting ending. Note that it is a misleading fantasy flick but more of a My Girl type of film. The movie wasn't too bad and the 95 min. runtime is perfect. A short enjoyable film that I'm not too sure if small children really should see it but that's up for debate.
Bridge to Terabithia gets a 6 out of 10.
