What up peeps? sorry I've been mad crazy busy. Seems ironic that the moments in my life that are the most blogable are the moments that I have the least time to blog. Well I went to LA for 4 days with Andy and we met up with my friend Tony who pretty much has set his heart in staying there forever. The idea of the trip was just to take some good photos.
We started out at philippe's where supposedly they're the all time best french dip sandwiches. I thought it was just a regular deli caliber so everyone can shoot me if they think its all that. Then Tony drove us all around downtown Los Angeles. The actual downtown version of the city is alright. Really all the famous places are outside downtown. But we went to a lot of the cultural places like chinatown, little tokyo, mexico district (don't know what they really call it), and grand central market.
Then we went to this really fancy apt building called the Bradbury. Inside it looked gorgeous. It was pretty interesting because people really lived there so you could only go to the first floor of the building. The outside was just this plain looking brick building that just boring.

Then came maybe one of the coolest spots in LA. Griffith Observatory is on one of the highest points in LA. So it'd be a shame not to take a ton of pictures here. The inside was the basic museum about stars and junk like that. The real treat was the view. Which we came back later that night. There was a good amount of people doing night photography but a whole lot more going to see the start on their 14in telescope.
The next day was the typical LA. We took a bus on sunset and went up to Hollywood Blvd. Where we saw two Supermans, two Batmans, two Princess Leias, and a whole lot more random characters. Saw the whole crazy area there with Kodak Theatre and Grauman's Chinese Theatre. A site that wasn't all that great but it was a must see if we were in Hollywood.
Once we got back from that circus we went to the famous beaches. Shot above was taken using HDR (my new friend). First stop was Venice Beach where there was absolutely everything there. Ocean City boardwalk eat your heart out. I was really amazed at the shear size of it all. Bball, graffiti, tennis, volleyball, skatepark, stores, weights, street performers, etc. And yes there is a beach too. A side venture to see was the houses near the beach, where it really gets its name. There were canals that divided the houses just like in venice. It was really gorgeous and those houses were millions I bet. Then we went to Santa Monica Pier just a couple miles down for sunset (photo above).
On the way back to our hotel, we came across an interesting little shindig. The first annual Streamy Awards were happening right at our hotel. I for one didn't see anyone. But when I ran upstairs I looked at the nominees and saw some fairly big names out there. I did see the guy above which is Bud Bundy from Married With Children. I felt a little weird cause Tony and Andy had no clue who I was talking about. He did see me taking a photo of him and struck a pose but I wasn't ready for him and it came out blurry. This is the best I got though candidly.

The next day we went Huntington Library where they hold 5 gardens. A photographers playground. Aside from seeing some old couple making out and stealing shots from other photographer's (4th picture), it was a VERY beautiful place. We were only able to get through 2 gardens before getting kicked out because it closed at 4:30.
We did a couple more drive bys of City Hall and La Brea Tar pits. The tar pits aren't all that glamorous. Just a very stinky and dirty lake. The last day we just chilled in Malibu and ate along the seashore. Got a good tip on where to find some celebs for the next time I come. So if you're gonna go to LA and want to see some celebs let me know and we can go stake some out.
