OK, hold on to your seats folks. This is by far one of my favorite films. First off, only watch this if you enjoy hardcore action and NOTHING else. This film by far blows away any action film to date. TRUE the plot is lacking and the writing is sub-par but hell who cares when people are getting blown away by a shotgun cannon. This film is John Woo at his best. Chow-yun fat and Tony Leung are awesome in this undercover cop film.

Things to pay attention to:

  1. The longest no-cut action sequence.
  2. (if you're watching the dubbed version) Unique and unforgettable voice acting.
  3. Shotguns have way too much power in this.
  4. Wonderful exit by chow-yun fat after the yacht scene.
  5. GREAT soundtrack.
  6. maddog is the man.

I rarely will give perfect scores. But for its genre, this by far is in a league of its own.

Hard Boiled gets a 10 out of 10.
